In 2010, Maryland workers averaged the fourth highest salary in the nation. The average Maryland worker made $995 a week (gross income), up from $973 in 2009, and well above the national average of $854.

As of January 2012, the U.S. and Maryland minimum wages are the same. The minimum wage in Maryland for most workers is $7.25 an hour. For tipped employees, the Maryland minimum cash-wage is $3.63 an hour.
