On May 17, 2011, Mr. Johnson pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to charges of extortion, and witness and evidence tampering. On December 6, 2011, he was sentenced to 87 months (7 years & 3 months) in federal prison, with three-years supervised release, and a $100,000 fine.

Mr. Johnson was expected to begin serving his term on February 18, 2012 at the Federal Correctional Complex in Butner, North Carolina.
